Summit

The conversational family board game for long distance connection.

Grandparents and grandchildren separated by distance face challenges in maintaining meaningful connections. Phone conversations don’t engage children, and there are few other options within entertainment technology to support grandparent-grandchild relationships.

Summit is a physical board game with digital inputs that can be played across geographic separation. The position of the other players positions will light up as they move in distinct colours as the players moves towards the summit as if they were in the same room, and conversational prompt cards progresses the game and encourages meaningful conversations. The game lasts about 20 minutes, the length of a phone conversation.

This was an induvidual design project where I handled every step of the design process, and the project was completed as part of my degree in my final year of my product design degree at University of Dundee.
